Could the INHUMANS be getting a feature film from Marvel?

A rumor has surfaced that Marvel could be looking to develop a feature film based on the alien supergroup. Marvel's universe continues to grow with Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger arriving in theaters this summer.  The studio then has The Avengers scheduled to start this summer for a release in 2012 and Iron Man 3 on the horizon. The studio has also thought about developing smaller budget films for Luke Cage and Ant-Man. The Inhumans, would fall into the bigger budget category of their slate.

The Inhumans were first introduced in the pages of "Fantastic Four" #45 back in 1965 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. A few members appeared in earlier issues, but they were given a high-profile mini-series in the late '90s.

I am glad that the Inhumans was not made along with the 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four movies in the 90's, which I hated. Marvel has apparently gotten the rights back and they plan on developing a movie based on the characters according to a report from Badass Digest. Devin Faraci found a description of the project listed on the industry site It's On the Grid as something being developed by Walt Disney Pictures, who is the parent company for Marvel Studios.

In the announcement from Disney and Marvel, it states they are looking for writers for the project. Check out the description below:

"Aliens who were put on Earth as sleeper cell aliens to eventually call back their race to take over the planet. Ultimately, the group of aliens fully assimilates and don’t want to cause war."

As of now, there is not any official announcement from Disney or Marvel on this project, but we will likely have news for you in the future. Even when the script is turned in there is no guarantee that it will be greenlit. We will keep you posted on further developments as always.
