Emile Hirsch to star in Oliver Stone's SAVAGES

Emile Hirsch has joined cast of Oliver Stone‘s Savages. The film is based on a book by Don Winslow, and it was adapted by Winslow and Shane Salerno. The story follows "two friends (Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch) from Laguna Beach who share the same girlfriend (Blake Lively) and a thriving business growing and distributing the best-quality pot on the planet. When they resist being muscled by a Mexican drug cartel, the girl is kidnapped and the ransom is every cent they've made for the last five years.  They agree to pay but hatch an alternate plan to get her back, get revenge, and then get lost." Earlier we reported that John Travolta was going to play Dennis, a burned out DEA agent and Uma Thurman the mother of Lively's character. Hirsch's role is not known currently, but we will keep you updated.

The film begins shooting in July, and is likely slated for sometime in 2012. Hirsch has a number of films coming out this year, including Killer JoeThe Darkest Hour. He is currently filming “The Motel Life” with Stephen Dorff. I think that this cast is simply amazing. Hirsch is a great actor, and I am interested in finding out what character he will be playing. I am not a huge fan of Lively, and am having trouble envisioning two guys fighting over her, but that is just me. Travolta is on a role with casting as of late.
