Joss Whedon's CABIN IN THE WOODS finally coming to theaters

The Cabin in the Woods is finally coming to the screen thanks to Lionsgate. MGM has made a deal for them to distribute the long awaited film from Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard. The cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Amy Acker and Fran Kanz. An official release date has not been announced, but it will likely be October.

The films quality has not been the reason for the delay. MGM was set to release the film on Oct. 23, 2009, but was pushed back to convert to 3D. When everything stopped at MGM because of their financial woes, caused The Cabin in the Woods to be among several pictures were forced to sit on the shelf.

Let's hope that the remake of Red Dawn (which also stars Hemsworth) finally gets a distributor as well. It also helps that Josh Hutcherson, who was just set to star in The Hunger Games, and Wonder Woman's Adrianne Palicki, starring in the film.
