Teaser art for Alexandre Aja's COBRA: THE SPACE PIRATE

Here is some teaser art in promotion of director Alexandre Aja's upcoming live-action adaptation of the popular cartoon Cobra: The Space Pirate. The art was created to promote the sale of the project at the Cannes Film Festival. It gives us a glimpse of what is to come by showing what Cobra himself will look like in the film.

Aja is the director of such films as Piranha 3DThe Hills Have Eyes and High Tension. Last summer he announced he was bringing Cobra to the big screen after aquiring the rights for the Japanese manga from Buichi Terasawa. Gregory Levasseur (Aja's partner) is writing the story and will also produce. The film follows the "eponymous rogue space pirate, a man who has surgically altered his face and erases his own memory to hide from his enemies. Cobra gradually regains his memories and unites with his old partner Lady Armaroid and his ship Tortuga. Together, the two set off on an adventure to recover a lost treasure on Mars."

I loved High Tension, and enjoyed Piranha 3D for what it was. It will be interesting to see how Aja brings Cobra and his universe to the big screen. What are your thoughts on this news?
