MONSTERS sequel lands its directors

Movie Monsters by

Earlier we reported that Gareth Edwards' Monsters was getting a sequel, but Vertigo Films was hiring a new director. He is currently a new version of Godzilla. The sequel will be the directorial debut of Brent Bonacorso and Jesse AtlasScoot Mcnairy will be involved as a producer on the film, but is not likely going to reprise his role. The new story will focus on a teacher who enters the infected zone of the city to find his brother.

Vertigo revealed that the sequel will have “lots more creatures” and that a number of actors have expressed “quite a lot of interest” in joining the cast. One thing staying the same is that the sequel will also have a low budget, less than $5million!

Edwards said the following in an earlier interview:

“But I do think whoever Vertigo ends up hiring will do a great job because they really know what they’re doing there. For me, if they hire someone to direct another MONSTERS movie, the last thing they need is for me to be hanging around, telling people how the movie should be. Whoever comes in should definitely be given free rein to put their own spin on this world, and I know they’ll get the right person,”

I really liked Monsters and am excited for a sequel. It will be interesting to see how the new directors vision of the film. Are you excited for the sequel?
