Chris Hemsworth is the front runner for SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN

Chris Hemsworth may be smashing his way into another role according to Variety. Hemsworth is the front runner for the lead role in Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman. He would star opposite Kristen Stewart(Snow White) and Charlize Theron (Evil Queen). To finalize a deal, Universal will have to work out some major issues with Hemsworth's shooting schedule on Marvel's The Avengers.

No official deal has been made at this time, but it would be a big move to land Hemsworth just days before the North American release of Thor. This film is scheduled ot arrive in theaters on December 21, 2012, only six months after Relativity Media's version starring Lily Collins and Julia Roberts. An interesting thing to point out about this bit of casting is that the huntsman continues to get younger and younger. At one time Viggo Mortensen (52) was sought, then Hugh Jackman (42) and then Joel Edgerton (37). Hemsworht is 27, making Snow White's protector and mentor much closer in age to Stewart at 21. This film is said to change the traditonal fairy tale story to focus on the Evil Queen ordering the death of Snow White and the Huntsman decides instead to protect and teach the young woman.

I am excited that Hemsworth is close to a deal. I am excited to see him as Thor and think he is a great fix for the Huntsman.
