Exclusive Interview: Actress Maya Sayre Vs. Brian  S

Maya Sayre plays Morgan Riley in the popular new web series Aidan 5 which is a mixture of drama, sci-fi and awesome animation, think Sin City.  Sayre also has several other projects in the works including a film with George Clooney. Check out my latest Versus with actress Maya Sayre.

Brian  S- First off, how'd you get into acting?

Maya Sayre- I've been acting for most of my life, starting with school plays. Embarrassing story? I would do toothpaste commercials into the mirror when I was 6 years old...ya...I was THAT kid.  After a couple of years at a vocational theatre program in high school, I went to college and got my bachelors degree in Musical Theatre.  Since then, I've been doing film and commercial work, and the occasional webseries.

Brian  S- Tell me about how you got involved in the Aidan 5 web series.

Maya Sayre- I was actually involved with the original 48 hour film.  Tim Baldwin, one of the creators, teamed up with John Jackson to participate in the 48 Hour Film Project.  I had worked with Tim before, so when he asked me to be involved I jumped at the chance.  I feel extremely lucky that they not only asked me to come back and be a part of the webseries, but they also expanded the role.  It's been a sincere pleasure to work with such a group of cool and talented people.

Brian  S- Tell me about your character.

Maya Sayre- Riley.  Morgan Riley.  (Can I say something about a martini, shaken - not stirred??)

Morgan Riley is a detective who works along side Detective James Aidan in the gritty, futuristic world of AIDAN 5.  She is also a clone who is constantly battling society's prejudice against clones, and her own insecurities of feeling like an outsider.  Riley is sometimes quiet and restrained, but full of emotion and a desire to do the right thing.  I really like her, to be honest.  I find her quiet strength inspiring!

Brian  S- Ok, tell me about the other projects your involved in.

Maya Sayre- I actually just finished shooting a small role for "The Ides of March" with George Clooney.  That was a pretty amazing experience!!

I recently had a cameo in another webseries I love, Blood and Bone China.  (If you haven't checked that one out...you simply MUST!)

I have a few other projects in the works at the moment, including one where I play the voice of a computer...definitely looking forward to that!!

Brian  S- You got any weird hobbies?

Maya Sayre- That depends on your definition of weird.  I juggle fire, tightrope walk and train Llamas on the side.  (No...not really, but it sounds good, doesn't it?)   In truth, I have a pretty normal existence: I love to bike (I just got a new road bike last fall, and I'm totally addicted!).  I cook, bake, hang out with my family, and I spend WAY too much time on Twitter.  ; )  Oh, I'm also a HUGE sci fi fan, so I'm currently in the process of introducing my son to the original Star Trek series. Must pass on the love!!

Brian  S- What would you like to do that you haven't done yet?

Maya Sayre- Personally? TRAVEL!  I have always wanted to explore the world, and I just haven't had the opportunity to do so yet.

Professionally? Play the bad guy. I never get to play the evil one, and I would SO enjoy that!!

Brian  S- Where can everybody find you and your work on the net?

Maya Sayre-

My IMDB page is a good place: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2788479/

I'm on Twitter at: www.Twitter.com/Mayaaah

I have a website: www.MayaSayre.com.
...and I also have a blog, which has nothing to do with acting at all: www.DownAndNerdyBlog.com

Brian  S- Would you like to say anything to our cool army checking this out?

Maya Sayre-

1:  You're all super cool for reading this!

2:  Come visit us at the conventions this year!  Check out www.Aidan5.com to see where we'll be, and when.

3:  If you haven't watched AIDAN 5 yet...PLEASE do!  The show was created with an entirely volunteer team, and we're hoping to get in front of as many people as we can.  Give it a watch - and tell your friends!

4:  42.    ; )
