Sony Pictures close to deal to distribute Kathryn Bigelow's Bin Laden pic

It looks as though Sony Pictures may be close to picking up distribution rights for untitled Kathryn Bigelow-directed drama about Navy SEAL Team 6's hunt for Osama Bin Laden. Bigelow and Boal have been working to update the script to now that Bin Laden has been killed. Earlier we reported that Joel Edgerton had been cast in the film that was once titled Kill Bin Laden.

Edgerton will likely end up playing a special ops Navy Seal. He will be joined by a few other actors who will take on the role of his team. Boal is almost done with the script rewrite on the film that will be financed by Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures. If the deal is finalized, Sony will handle US and Canadian distribution.

This sounds like a pretty interesting project. I am also excited for Lone Survivor from Peter Berg, which will begin filming in January.
