HIGHLANDER reboot still planned for FAST FIVE'S Justin Lin

Justin Lin revealed that he is still planning on directing Summit's Highlander reboot. The buzz on the project has died down as of late, but it is still moving forward. Lin claimed that the project is still "very much a priority". He goes on to say:

"I've been working with ['Iron Man' writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway] on the script. That's one where Summit has been really good [about letting it develop], and for me, it's about making sure that we can take it to the place where I feel comfortable and great about making it. I feel like I have a very good studio and team and we're working on it."

Lin already has a number of projects on his plate, and even more are likely to come his way now that Fast Five exploded at the box office. Not only does he have Fast Six, Lin is also developing Terminator 5 with Arnold Schwarzenegger attached. At this time it is not known which film will move into production first.

One of these projects could easily fall off his radar, the director went on to say:

"I have different projects at different stages. You work on so many projects all at once, and at some point, you have to make the call. I feel like right now, 'Highlander' is in pretty good shape, but I still have to see all the other things come together for us to go make it."

Just because the Highlander reboot is not Lin's top priority at this time does not mean he is not excited about it. He goes on to say,"I've been very excited about my take with Art and Matt. We've been working on that. When I get back [from promoting 'Fast Five' internationally] we'll keep working on it."

I am a fan of the first Highlander film, but am not a big fan of the sequels. Lin is a really strong director with a great understanding and respect for the material. What I love about Lin is that he surrounds himself with an awesome team of experts. This can only mean good things for fans of the films.

What are your thoughts on this news? Are you excited for a reboot from Lin?
