Nathan Lane and Robert Emms Cast in Tarsem Singh's SNOW WHITE

Director Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Cell) has cast Nathan Lane (The Bird Cage) and Robert Emms (War Horse) in his upcoming untitled live-action film version of Snow White. Relativity Media just closed the deal.

Singh's re-imagined Snow White movie will follow an "evil queen and an exiled princess struggle for control of their kingdom in a spirited adventure comedy, filled with jealousy, romance and betrayal." Lane will play Brighton in the film, the Queen's servant. Emms will play Renbock, Prince Alcott's valet. They will join the previously cast Julia RobertsLily Collins (The Blind Side) and Armie Hammer (The Social Network).

I loved what I've seen from Singh's Immortals film, and I can't wait to see his vision for Snow White. Pre-production has already started, and it will officially start shooting in June. The film is set to be released in theaters on June 29th, 2012.

Brett Ratner is attached as a producer on the project, and he had this to say in a previous interview,

This is not your grandfather’s Snow White. Melisa [Wallack, who wrote the script] went back to the 500 year old folk tale and put in some of the things that were missing from Walt Disney’s film. His dwarfs were miners, and here they are robbers. There is also a dragon that was in the original folk tale. Walt made one of the great movies of all time, but ours is edgy and there is more comedy. The original, made for its time, was soft compared to what we’re going to do.
