Bethesda Softworks Website Gets Hacked

Bethesda Softworks is the latest in the ever-growing list of video game companies suffering at the hands of hackers. Thankfully, though, there troubles didn’t involve any financial data.

“While no personal financial information or credit card data was obtained,” an entry posted today on the Bethesda Blog reads, “the hackers may have gained access to some user names, email addresses, and/or passwords.”

If you make use of any Bethesda-owned site, the developer recommends changing your password immediately. Also, if you use your Bethesda password on any other site, it’d probably be best to change it as well.

In the wake of Sony's PSN debacle, Nintendo, Codemasters, Square-Enix, and now Bethesda have all been hacked in various ways. If you're a video game company, now might be a good time to instigate a security audit.
