Ryan Gosling says NO to THE IDOLMAKER

Movie Ryan Gosling by

Ryan Gosling continues to be a hot commodity in Hollywood, with a ton of new projects in various stages of production. When an actor gets to that point in their career, they often have to say no to certain projects. Gosling has had to do just that, and will not be able to direct and star in MGM's remake of The Idolmaker, at least for now.

Gosling is currently doing pre-productions on Derek Cianfrance's A Place Beyond the Pines. Once that is complete he moves immediately on to Ruben Fleischer's Gangster Squad, starring with Sean Penn and Josh Brolin for Warner Bros. MGM still plans to move forward on the project, and plans to reach out to Gosling later to see if he's available.

I am happy to see Gosling in both indie and big budget roles. Some people consider that to be selling out, but I consider that to allow you to do more as an actor. For every blockbuster, an actor can do two indie pictures. I see this as a win win for Gosling. Deadline reports that Gosling has had to turn down lead roles in a number of films, including Superman, Jack Ryan, Akira andThe Lone Ranger. He recently gained a lot of attention by starring in Nicolas Refn's Drive. Warner Bros. tested Crazy, Stupid, Love recently with great success. Since then they have been offering him everything that comes along. The studio recently got Gosling to star in Refn's remake of Logan's Run

I am excited to see Gosling in any movie he stars in. Crazy, Stupid, Love and Gangster Squad are at the top of my list. What are your thoughts on this news?
