Catherine Hardwicke directing Noomi Rapace in biopic on Iconic Swedish Singer Anita Lindblom

Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) is set to direct Noomi Rapace (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) in an t untitled biopic of 60s Swedish diva and pop culture icon Anita Lindblom, according to THR.

Rapace will next be seen in Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. The Swedish actress will play Lindblom and her actor husband, Ola Rapace, will play Bosse Hogberg,"the Swedish and European boxing champion whose whirlwind romance with and turbulent marriage to Lindblom were fodder for European tabloids for years." THR reports that the Rapaces have been developing the Lindblom project for a number of years before Dragon Tattoo. Ola Rapace has been training for the past four years to get into shape for the role.

The screenplay was written by Peter Birro, and Helena Danielsson of Hepp Film is producing. Production will begin in Sweden this autumn. Nordisk has Scandinavian rights to the film and plans a territorial release there in winter 2012.

I loved Rapace in Dragon Tattoo and am looking forward to seeing her in this project. What are your thoughts of this news?
