Bryan Singer says X-MEN: FIRST CLASS sequel could deal with Civil Rights or Vietnam

Bryan Singer recently spoke to The LA Times about the possible storyline of an X-Men: First Class sequel. A sequel has yet to be greenlit, but there is always a possibility. The deciding factor for the studio will be the worldwide box office take.

Here is what he had to say about a possible storyline:

"I don't know if every movie has to be a history lesson. But there's a lot of history to cover. If we sequelized this, it could inhabit a whole world of the 20th century. When [First Class] happened, Kennedy had not been assassinated and the Vietnam War hadn't happened yet. […] What's really interesting about the '60s setting is the civil rights movement."

I have always enjoyed the struggle between the mutants and humans, which really does parallel the Civil Rights movement. I would love it if Singer sticks around to write the script for a sequel and that Matthew Vaughn signs on to direct. I was very impressed with Vaughn's ability to direct a great film in such a short amount of time. I loved the mix of historical events with the X-Men universe. That sounds pretty good to me, I would love to see something having to do with JFK's assassination, but Vietnam and Civil Rights would be great as well.

What are your thoughts on the possibility of a sequel? What other types of storylines would you like to see included?
