Guy Ritchie heading back to SGT. ROCK, overseeing script

Comic BookMovie Guy Ritchie by

It looks as though Guy Ritchie has found his next project after Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows. Twitch is reporting that Ritchie is headed back to an adaptation on DC Comics' Sgt. Rock. The director was originally set to direct the film, but then Francis Lawrence stepped in with a new plan to take the film in a new direction.

Apparently Lawrence wanted to move away from the comics WWII setting and give it a futuristic spin. Warner Brothers and producer Joel Silver are lining Sgt Rock up as Ritchie's next film. Twitch goes on to report that Ritchie is already supervising the current draft of the screenplay. Thankfully, the film will keep the original setting and has Rock facing off against German troops in WWII.

This is one of my favorite comics from my childhood, so this is great news. I think Ritchie is a great choice to direct the film and am glad he will be involved from the beginning. What are your thoughts on this news? Who do you think would be a good fit to play Sgt. Rock?
