Drew Pearce writing big screen adaptation of THE MIGHTY for Paramount

Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce has been hired to write a big screen adaptation of DC Comics' The Mighty for Paramount. Variety reports that the project is being developed by Mary Parent and Cale Boyter at their Disruption Entertainment banner. The studio bought the rights in June. Chris Bender and JC Spink will produce via their Benderspink banner and Jake Weiner will also be involved as a producer.

The Mighty is an original graphic novel from writers Peter J. Tomasi and Keith Champagne. The story is about "Alpha-One, the world's most powerful super-being, who has always been a force for good. But a cop who's life was saved by Alpha One as a child, has uncovered his hero's dark plan that will put them on a collision course of an ordinary man versus a super-man."

Aside from Iron Man 3, Pearce has produced British TV series, No Heroics, Lip Service and Damage Control. I am really interested in seeing Shane Black's direction of the third Iron Man and am interested in seeing how this story translates on the big screen. What are your thoughts?
