1408 Director to Develop Jekyll and Hyde Thriller called WAKE

Movie Horror by Joey Paur

Swedish director Mikael Hafstrom is set to direct a new horror thriller for Hammer Films called Wake, which is described "a modern day Jekyll and Hyde who knows no bounds." Hammer is making a comeback, they have been making gothic style horror films since 1934. In their later years they started making Sci-fi, thrillers, Film Noir and even comedies. During the 60's and 70's Hammer dominated the Horror film market, then in the 80's they kind of disappeared. The production company made they're return with the remake of Let Me In, and now it looks like they have found life again.

Hafstrom has directed films such as the Stephen King adaptation of 1408, which I really enjoyed. He also directed the Anthony Hopkins film The Rite, which turned out better than I expected. Christopher Borrelli screenwriter of The Vatican Tapes wrote the screenplay for Wake, and a rewrite came from Deepwater Horizon screenwriter Matt Sand.

Here is the synopsis that was provided in the Press release:

3% of all men are considered sociopaths, lacking concern for the well being of others or for the consequences of their actions. 1% of all men are born without the emotional capability to experience fear.  A very small percentage of the male population will statistically therefore be made up of sociopaths without fear.  WAKE tells the story of one such man -- a modern day Jekyll and Hyde who knows no bounds.

This could end up being a solid film. What do you think?
