Is HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS Part 2 Best Picture Material?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was an incredible film. I loved this final film of the epic franchise, and I was 100% satisfied, but is it Best Picture worth at the Oscars? I could see it landing a nomination for best picture. After all, Peter Jackson's Lord of the Ring's trilogy was nominated every year, and Return of the King ended up taking home the top prize. I'm sorry, but don't think Deathly Hallows Part 2 was better than Return of the King though.

Warner Bros. believes the film has a shot at landing the Best Picture award, and they've decided to go all out on a best picture campaign for Deathly Hallows Part 2. With the Academy's new best picture nomination set up, I think it has a solid chance of getting it, I just don't think it has what it takes to win. Just as a little reminder, the Academy recently changed announced that as few as 5 and as many as 10 titles can be nominated for the awards.

According to Variety, "Warners will 'absolutely, hands-down, across-the-board' push the last installment of Harry Potter hoping Academy members will consider a vote for Deathly Hallows: Part 2 as a wider nod to the entire franchise, a notion that very much helped propel Return of the King to Oscar glory."

It's also not surprising that the film could also get a collection of nominations for visual effects, art direction, editing, sound and other technical categories. Since the Potter films been released they have received a total of 9 Oscar nominations, but no wins.

Warner Bros. is also looking to set up Oscar campaigns for Stephen Soderberg's ContagionExtremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Clint Eastwoods J. Edgar, and Happy Feet Two, which doesn't look good at all.

What do you all think about Deathly Hallows Part 2 being pushed for Best Picture? Do you think it has a chance of winning?
