Craig Gillespie no longer Directing PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES

It looks like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has lost another director. According to Twitch Film director Craig Gillespie (Lars And The Real Girl, Fright Night) is no longer attached to the film project, which is a shame. I really enjoyed the directors work, he did a fantastic job bringing Fright Night to the big screen, and thought he would was a great choice to take on the big screen adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's awesome zombie novel.

One of the reasons given is that it was taking to long to lock down a leading lady. Mila Kunis, Emma Stone, Rooney Mara, and Olivia Wilde were all at one point considered and offered the role but none of them ended up working out for one reason or another. Natalie Portman is producing the film and was attached to star in it when it was first announced. Not sure why she doesn't jump back on board. I still think that she's would be the best choice. As of right now Dominic Cooper is the only person attached to the project, and he will play Mr Darcy.

The film is set up at Lionsgate, and for some reason they just can't get this thing going! Before Gillespie was attached to direct the film Mike White was going to take on the project, and before White there was Fighter director David O Russell. The studio is now on the hunt for a fourth director to take on the highly anticipated film adaptation. The film was supposed to start production in January of next year, so the have a little bit of time to figure things out. Hopefully they get someone talented.
