Ben Stiller's Red Hour Digital has been busy this week. First they are working to produce a comedy based on Quantum Hoops and now they have The Fake Trailer Project. Deadline reports that the project is "a digital feature that is inspired by Stiller's own fake trailers that were shown in short doses in the comedy Tropic Thunder." The new project will be distributed online and the plan is "to bring together top actors and filmmakers across all genres to take part."
The project is being produced by Stiller along with Stuart Cornfeld and Mike Rosenstein through Red Hour Digital. Robert Cohen will serve as executive producer and will direct some of the shorts. Justin Theroux,Tom Lennon, Ben Garant, and Amy Heckerling are currenlty lined up to participate.
Fake trailers have been turned into two cool movies recently (Hobo With A Shotgun and Machete). I could see some of these hilarious fake comedies turned into real films. Here was one of the fake trailers used in Tropic Thunder, featuring Robert Downey Jr as Kirk Lazarus:
What are your favorite fake trailers? Do you think they could be made into full-lenght films?
