Cecchi Gori adapting GLOBAL FLYER about Brit hang-gliding champ Brian Milton

Movie by

Cecchi Gori Pictures is set to adapt Global Flyer for the big screen. Deadline reports that the studio has optioned the autobiography of British hang-gliding champion Brian Milton. The film is based on "Milton’s miraculous recovery from a near-death crash in 1987. A year later, he attempted to become the first man to circumvent the globe in a microlight. Against adversity that included betrayal, abandonment and crashes, Milton did it in 80 days. It earned him a place as one of the 10 top British adventurers of all time."

Here is what Niels Juul, Cecchi Gori Pictures CEO had to say:

“Brian’s story is such an affirmation of the power of the human spirit. With plenty of humor and heart, we feel strongly that the story fits beautifully with the Cecchi Gori tradition of making films that celebrate the triumph of love and character — however unlikely, and whatever the obstacle.”

Cecchi Gori is the companny that is responsible for Life is Beautiful, Il Postino and Mediterraneo. Their next project is Silence, the Martin Scorsese-directed adaptation of the Shusako Endo novel. This sounds like a great cool story of determination and triumph over hardship.
