Kevin Costner Drops out of Tarantino's DJANGO UNCHAINED

I'm actually kind of bummed out to tell you that Kevin Costner has had to drop out of Quentin Tarantion's Spaghetti Southern Django Unchained. I was actually really looking forward to seeing Costner in the film, this seems like the kind of role that would help his career.

Costner would have played a character named Ace Woody, a "sadistic trainer of the male fighting slaves who entertain the white patrons of Candyland as well as the female slaves who are forced to be prostitutes. The club and ranch are owned by Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Ace Woody is the one who pits the "mandingo" fighters against one another, and has little qualms about mistreating and even killing the slaves who don't measure up."

The news of Costner's departure came from a tweet from Variety reporter Justin Kroll who said, "And in another interesting piece of casting news, Kevin Costner has had to pass on DJANGO UNCHAINED due to scheduling conflicts." This is a shame, I would have liked to see him in a hardcore and solid role like this, and I wanted to see what Tarantino would end up doing with him.

The film will tell the story follows Django (Jamie Fox), a freed slave, who, under the protection and care of a German bounty hunter (Christoph Waltz) becomes a bad-ass bounty hunter himself, and after assisting Waltz in taking down some bad guys for profit, is helped by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from an evil plantation owner (DiCaprio). This film also deals with racism and is handled in a way unlike anything we've ever seen in a film before. According to someone that read the script, "it’s a 100 percent pure popcorn and revenge flick, it is pure genius in the way it takes on the evil slave owning south. Think of what he did with the Nazis in Inglorious and you’ll get a sense of what he’s doing with slave owners and slave overseers in this one." The film will be released on December 25, 2012.

What do you all think about Costner having to leave the production? But now that he's out who would you like to see take his place?
