Elton John to Produce Biopic about his Career called ROCKETMAN

Movie by Joey Paur

Elton John is producing a feature film biopic that will tell the story of his own musical career and life. The movie will be called Rocketman, and the script will be written by Billy Elliot screenwriter Lee Hall. It's no surprise at all that John is getting a biopic, but most movies like this don't happen until after a person is dead. I guess the musician wants a say in how his life is portrayed on the big screen, he will have a very active role in the films creation.

John is producing the film through his Rocket Pictures production company alongside his partner David Furnish and Steve Hamilton Shaw. The movie is being described as, "a biographical musical fantasy that will weave together John’s life and his music... it follow his life story from a child piano prodigy (who by age 11 won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music) to a young man who rebelled against his strict upbringing, wore outrageous costumes and became a global icon who teamed with songwriter Bernie Taupin to sell more records that just about any musical artist of his era."

They want to come up with an inventive way to cover John's life in the film, and make a biopic in a way that has never been done before.  According to Deadline, "One device will be to feature choreographed sequences using John’s biggest hit songs. Those tunes will be part of the movie package and will drive a story that will cover the rough spots in John’s journey of self-discovery." Shaw went on to say in a statement that,

Rocketman will be a radically different kind of biopic. It will be as unique as Elton’s life, told in a non-linear and hyper-visual manner that will transport people through the many intense experiences, some wonderful, some not, that helped define Elton as an artist, musician and man.

This could actually turn out to be a pretty far out cool movie. I like that they want to try something new and creative with this biopic instead of taking the more traditional route. The film will for sure reflect John's personality, and that's they way it needs to be done. I'm a fan of Elton John's music and this movie is something to look forward to. What do you all think?
