Earlier we reported that a big announcement regarding Back to the Future was coming, and then we shared a cool video of the MAG shoes seemingly confirming the news. Today, Nike announced all the specifics about the Nike MAG shoes, just like the ones that Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future II.

Unfortunately, the shoes will NOT be self-lacing like we reported earlier. That would be awesome, and who knows may be on the horizon for the future, but just not today. So that begs the question, why such a big announcement?! The big deal about these shoes is that only 1,500 pairs are being made and will be auctioned off and all of the net proceeds will support the Michael J. Fox Foundation to research Parkinson’s disease.  You can get in on the auction at Nike’s Ebay page tonight at 8:30 PST through September 18.

Fox will be a guest on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight to talk about the shoes Below is another cool video of the shoes that is worth checking out. If you are a fan of BTTF and want to fight Parkinson's disease, than this is a great way to show your love.

What are your thoughts? Are you going to try to buy a pair?
