Diane Kruger In Talks To Play The Seeker in Stephanie Meyer's THE HOST

Stephanie Meyer's The Host is the next big franchise for Twihards to glom onto. Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, and Jake Abel are all set to star in the Andrew Niccol-directed adaptation of the science fiction novel. Deadline reports that Diane Kruger is now in talks to play the role of The Seeker in the film.

The story is set during a time when "a parasitic alien species called The Souls has just about wiped out the human population." Seekers are "charged with overseeing the conversion of a young rebel soldier (Ronan) whose consciousness has been infiltrated by Wanderer, a soul that has taken control of bodies and minds but who is daunted by the young human’s spirit — and obsessed with the memories of her boyfriend and her brother — and sets out to track them down. The Seeker pursues her, knowing that the conversion of the rebel will lead to the discovery and eradication of the rebel movement."

The Inglorious Basterds star had been a candidate for a lead role in Universal’s Oblivion but withdrew from consideration and took The Host. The film is being set up as a trilogy. Open Road purchased U.S. distribution rights last year and filming is slated to begin shortly for a March 29, 2013 release.
I have not read the books, but I hear that this is a much better than The Twilight Saga. Is Kruger a good fit for the role of The Seeker? Do you think the other cast sounds good?

No author bio. End of line.
