Seth MacFarlane to Host the Oscars!

The Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has officially announced that Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will host the 85th Annual Academy Awards, which is set to take place on February 24th, 2013. Apparently they really enjoyed his Saturday Night Live appearance. Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will produce the Oscars, and here's a statement they released:

We are thrilled to have Seth MacFarlane host the Oscars. His performing skills blend perfectly with our ideas for making the show entertaining and fresh. He will be the consummate host, and we are so happy to be working with him.

MacFarlane is a man of many talents. He's an actor, animator, screenwriter, comedian, producer, director, singer and a master of voices. He's also created American Dad, The Cleaveland Show, and the hilarious comedy Ted. 

I would have never imagined MacFarlane hosting the Oscars, but after seeing what he did on Saturday Night Live, I think he's a great choice! I can't wait to see how he makes it his own and what he ends up bringing to the table! What do you think about MacFarlane hosting the Oscars?
