Casting Roundup: Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood and Topher Grace

Here's a few pieces of casting news that have popped up that I thought some of you might want to know about!

Hellboy star Ron Perlman has joined an action crime thriller called Savage Mutts. He will play a character named Terry “Shotgun” Coburn, "who after he is released from maximum security prison sets out on a path of revenge and rampage through the criminal underworld, as he seeks out a final confrontation with his brother - a dark and powerful crime boss." The project has been described as being in the same vein of Guy Ritchie's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. I don't know about you but I'm up for seeing Perlman kick some ass! The film was written and directed by Nika Agiashvili.

Spider-Man 3 co-star Topher Grace has joined Chris Evans and Michelle Monaghan in a love story called A Many Splintered Thing. The film tells the story of "a young man disillusioned by love who meets a breathtaking young woman at a charity dinner by pretending to be a philanthropist. Turns out that she’s engaged to a guy who doesn’t like her going on dates. Challenged by the chase, and egged on by his eclectic friends, he feigns a platonic relationship in order to keep seeing her as he tries to conquer her heart." Grace will be the best friend of the main guy. The story is described as being in the vein of Amelie and (500) Days Of Summer.

Then there's Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood, who's been cast in a comedy called The Late Bloomer. The movie is based on the 2001 memoir Man Made: A Memoir of My Body writtenby Ken Baker. It tells "the amazing true story of a man who found out at close to age 30 that he hadn’t yet totally undergone puberty but when the medical condition preventing it was removed, in several short, overwhelming weeks did so." Well that sounds like it will be a strangely interesting movie! What a terrible experience that must have been, but I can see the comedy in it.

Which of these three projects interest you the most?
