Stephen Colbert Will Have a Cameo in THE HOBBIT

For those of you who didn't know, Comedy Central's The Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert is a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings, and it's being reported that he will have a cameo in Peter Jackson's Hobbit Trilogy. He's such a big fan that he actually reads Elvish.

According to THR he won't show up until The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug or The Hobbit: There and Back Again. There's no word on who he will play in the film or how big the part will be. It could be a key character, or it could be a background kind of role. I can easily see him in the role of a Hobbit though, he's got that Hobbitish look.

Here's what Colbert had to say about all this in the November issue of Playboy,

Peter Jackson invited me to the set last year. I flew out and watched them shoot some scenes and went to some locations. I saw a 25-minute cut, and it was amazing. Jackson knows I'm a big fan of the films.

He was then asked if he was an extra, Colbert smiled which prompted a follow-up question, "Are you telling us you're in the Hobbit movie?" he responded, with another smile, "Could be."

What do you think of Colbert showing up in one of the Hobbit films, and what do you think he'll play in it? Elf, Hobbit, Man, Dwarf, Orc, Troll?
