PARANORMAL ACTIVITY Getting a Latino Spin-Off Film

Apparently Paramount Pictures is looking to expand the Paranormal Activity universe by making a Latino-themed version of the horror franchise, but it won't be in Spanish. It won't be a sequel or a remake, it's described as being more of a "Cousin" to the original films, and it will be teased at the end of of Paranormal Activity 4 in a post-credits sequence.

The new project will reunite producers Jason Blum and Oren Peli with Christopher Landon, who wrote the second and third installments of the Paranormal movies. Landon will also direct.

The movie will take place in the same universe as the previous Paranormal movies. It will obviously have a whole new Latino cast, and the story will be based around some crazy creepy Catholic paranormal mythology. The studio is planning to make the micro-budgeted movie in the next several months, and they could potentially release the movie in January of 2013.

Hollywood is finally starting to figure out that there's a huge Latino market in the U.S., and it's growing. The Catholic church always makes a good creepy setting for a horror film, and I'm excited to see how this one turns out! What do you think about Paramount developing a Latino-themed Paranormal Activity horror film about Catholic mythology?
