PEANUTS Proposal with R2-D2 Engagement Ring

Gear R2-D2 by Eli Reyes

If a couple is already used to expressing their geek pride through tattoos and cosplay, it's no surprise that they'd express their love for each another with the same amount of geek flare and fashion. Meet Joe and Emily, who met while working at the same tattoo shop. Now meet this R2-D2 engagement ring, the geeky symbol of their love which was put together by Paul Mitchell Design and CustomMade.

If you think the engagement ring alone is on a whole other level of geek, wait till you see how many geeky layers made up the proposal itself. Joe relates the story saying:

Every year on Halloween [the people at the shop] get all geeked out in costume and work. This year, I had gotten the ring the day before... It wasn't my original plan, but seemed to all fall into place. Emily dressed up as Lucy Van Pelt from Peanuts and asked me to couple up and go as Charlie Brown. So, as we all gathered for a photo in front of the shop I started to ramble a bit and then popped the question.

I wanted to share the moment with the parties responsible... I know it would have been better in Star Wars gear, but that might have compromised the bigger picture. Even though Charlie Brown proposing to Lucy is still kind of a fun thing too. Yes, we are also Peanuts geeks! I rock a Linus tattoo and also have the G.I. Joe sleeping bag from my childhood that I still use nightly. There are many levels of geek not only in this story but also in our lives.

I wonder if the couple will take an equally geeky approach to the design of their wedding bands... perhaps in C-3PO gold, or lightsaber platinum? Either way, if their kids turn out being half as geeky as they are, I think the world is gonna be aaaalright.

Do you have any geeky proposal or engagement ring ideas or stories?
