Alfred Hitchcock's REBECCA To Be Remade by DreamWorks

DreamWorks is embarking on a journey to develop an unnecessary remake of Alfred Hitchcock's classic 1940's psychological noir thriller Rebecca. I just cringe whenever I hear about someone wanting to remake a Hitchcock film because you just can't do better.

The studio has gone ahead and hired Eastern Promises screenwriter Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things, The Lost Symbol) to pen the script, and he will go back to the original book written by Daphne DuMaurier for inspiration. Does it make it ok if they go back to the source material to remake a movie?

The story follows a naive young woman who marries a rich widower and settles into his gigantic mansion. While there she finds the memory of his first wife maintaining a grip on her husband and the servants.

What are your thoughts on this movie getting remade?
