BEETLEJUICE Sequel Is a Top Priority for Tim Burton, Warner Bros, and Michael Keaton

It looks like a sequel to Tim Burton's 1988 classic Beetlejuice is closer to being made than I thought. I knew the script was being written, but I didn't know that everyone was excited enouph about it to make it a top priority. The script for the film is set to be written by Seth Grahame-Smith, author of the book Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, which was adapted into a film, the trailer for which was just released. Smith recently did an interview with STYD and he talks about his meeting with Michael Keaton and reveals reveals the following:

We talked for a couple of hours and talked about big picture stuff.  It's a priority for Warner Bros. It's a priority for Tim.

He then goes on to say that Keaton's interest and excitement for the sequel is

Huge, he's been wanting to do it for 20 years and he'll talk to anybody about it who will listen. I really told him, I have a huge reverence for Tim and a huge reverence for that film in general.  I don't think we should do it if we shit on the legacy.  He agrees.  So, right now, it remains to be seen, I have a couple of story ideas, but we're very early out.

I would love to see Keaton back to reprise his role, and I hope it happens. I miss seeing Keaton in movies, he should be doing a lot more than what we've seen him in. I still think the guy is a lead actor that should be taking on some awesome roles.

What are your thoughts on seeing a Beetlejuice sequel, and Keaton reprising his role?
