Christian Bale To Get Revenge in OUT OF THE FURNACE
The Dark Knight is seeking revenge in a new movie! THR reports that Christian Bale is in talks to star in Out of the Furnace, which is being directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) for Relativity.
The project was once known as The Low Dweller and is based on a spec script by Brad Ingelsby. It centers on "a man released after serving four years in prison. His hopes for a peaceful homecoming are thwarted when he sets out to find the man who brutally murdered his younger brother to avenge his death."
The script was in high demand after it was first written in 2008. Directors like
Rupert Sanders
and
Ridley Scott
were interested, as was
Mark Wahlberg
. Scott is currently producing the project under his Scott Free banner.
Leonardo DiCaprio
's Appian Way and
Jenifer Davisson Killoran
are set to produce, with
Brooklyn Weaver
of Energy Entertainment executive producing.
Bale was close to a deal to star in the film with Sanders in the director's chair but had to drop out due to scheduling reasons.
Robert Duvall
, who appeared in Cooper’s
Crazy Heart
, is thought to be starring as well, although no deals have been made. Bale will likely film this in the spring, before doing press for
The Dark Knight Rises
and shooting
Terrence Malick
's drama
Knight of Cups
.
I always have enjoyed revenge dramas like this. One of my favorites has to be
Revenge
starring
Kevin Costner
. I think that Bale will be good in this role. What is your favorite revenge-themed movie?
