SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH getting a Superhero Movie Makeover
Sony Pictures is bringing Sabrina the Teenage Witch to the big screen, and here's the twist... they are turning her into a superhero. According to the report it will be a live action film, and it will the "origin story in the vein of Spider-Man, about a young girl coming to terms with her remarkable powers." The new adaptation will have an edgier tone, but it will still include her talking black cat Salem, who's a "transformed prince creating unique love stories for Sabrina."
Sabrina originated back in the 1960's in the Archie comics, and eventually became a animated series. But, most of you will probably remember the character from the 1999 Melissa Joan Hart TV series that ran for seven years. I'm not a big fan of the character so I could care less about what the studio does with her. This is a priority project for the studio, and they are on the hunt for a young actress to take on the lead role.
What do you think about what Sony is doing with Sabrina the Teenage Witch? Is this something you'd be interested in seeing?
