Are You Ready for a FRANKENSTEIN Found-Footage Film?

Movie Frankenstein by Joey Paur

The team that brought us the upcoming found footage horror anthology V/H/S, Radio Silence, is about to embark on a new found footage movie journey that will tackle the classic tale of Frankenstein. The directing quartet is currently in negotiations with Lionsgate to direct a horror film called The Reawakening, which comes from Shutter screenwriter Luke DawsonVulture describes it as "equal parts Flatliners and Frankenstein."

There are no other details on the film other than that. I loved the movie V/H/S! I had a chance to see it at Sundance, and I was pleasantly surprised by how entertaining it was. It ended up being one of those movies that I would will enjoy watching every Halloween right along side Halloween, Poltergeist Susperia, and Trick r' Treat. You can read my full review of the film here.

I have no idea if this Frankenstein movie is going to be a good fit for them. Hell, there's so many other Frankenstein films in development right now I'm not sure if a low-budget found footage version is going to cut it. On top of this film we've got Stuart Beattie’s I, Frankenstein, Shawn Levy is making an adaptation for Fox, Columbia Pictures is trying to get one off the ground with David Fincher. I'm not sure if he's directing or just producing. Universal Pictures is also developing a version that Guillermo del Toro has been attached to direct for years, and then Limitless director Neil Burger is working on a Bride of Frankenstein remake.

So as you can see Hollywood has got plenty of Frankenstein movies in the works. I really don't think we need another one. The only version I'm interested in seeing out of the bunch at this point is Del Toro's vision.

What do you think about the idea of a food footage Frankenstein movie? Which of these projects are you most excited to see... if any?
