SDCC '12: THE BIG BANG THEORY Panel Description

TV Comic-Con by

The Big Bang Theory panel kicked off by showing a funny blooper real from the past season. Then Chuck Lorre, Johnny Galecki, Mayam Bialik, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar, Simon Helberg, and Melissa Rauch entered Hall H. The action kicked off with each member of the cast and crew sharing their favorite moment. Leonard Nimoy, Stephen Hawking, the wedding ceremony, and Howard flying into space were some of the greatest bits from this memorable season.

The cast and crew have such a wonderful relationship, and you can see it on stage. It is really hard to fake the relationships that they have together. They sang "Soft Kitty" in the round and made it look effortless.

The fan Q&A is what dominated the panel. The questions were mainly asked by children, and many of them bordered on insane. Here are some of the finer points:
  • Chuck Lorre was asked if Rajesh would ever have a love relationship, and he hinted that there was something planned for the next season.
  • The fans asked if there was ever going to be a crossover between Big Bang and Two and a Half Men, since the same nurse appears in both shows. Lorre responded by saying that he would "get right on it".
  • Jim Parsons was asked if he was good at science in school. He responded by saying his passion was Meteorology, but got into acting.
  • Simon Helberg was asked where he sees his career going in 10 years. He responded by saying he loves doing different things, and has enjoyed the past 5 seasons. The moderator then asked if Helberg would actually go to space. Then an actual astronaut and test pilot for Xcor came on the stage. He asked Simon if he would be interested in flying in space on the XCor. We then got to see some amazing footage of the space flight that regular citizens can enjoy for a price.
Simon turned down the space flight, but each of the fans that asked a question was given a hand stamp. A drawing was held that allowed one lucky winner to fly into space. Makes me wish that I had asked a question. The Big Bang Theory truly went where no comedy series has gone before!

I really enjoy this show because of the awesome geeky storylines and how they use real science and tech in the show. If you have not seen any of the past five seasons, I highly recommend you check them out.
