The Expendables 2 panel consisted of Sly Stallone, Terry Crews, Randy Coture, Dolph Lundgren and the Governnator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger. It was by far one of the most entertaining panels on Thursday.
They started out by showing an awesome montage of Sly’s career. It was really well done and made me want to watch every Stallone movie ever made. Then they did the same thing for Arnold. It appears that I have a lot of movie watching to do when I leave the Con this year.
They start with the normal Q&A. Was filming fun? How was the cast? Blah blah blah. Then the panel turned the corner and the next thing you know Arnold and Sly are telling stories of their constant competition with each other throughout their careers. The best story told was of the first time they met. At the 1976 Golden Globes, they were at the same table. When Arnold won for best newcomer, Sly rolled his eyes and thought, “This guy is never going to make it.” So, when Sly won best picture for Rocky, he wanted to make an impression on good ol’ Arnie. He proceeded to pick up the flowers in a bowl in the middle of the table and threw them in the air so that they all landed on Arnold. Afterwards, Sly’s mom walked up to Arnold, Arnold thinking she was going to apologize, and said, “You like a piano mover.” And that was it, thus the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
All in all it was a good panel. No new info was given about the film. We did see a new clip from the film which was a pretty cool scene. It was Stallone, Willis, Schwarzenegger and Chuck Norris in a shoot out with Jean Claude Van Damme. They didn’t show much, just enough for us to want to see more.
Directed by Simon West and stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Randy Couture,Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
hits theaters on August 17, 2012.
The Expendables are back and this time it's personal... Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Lee Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) -- with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard -- are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job. The task looks like an easy paycheck for Barney and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Hell-bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time -- six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium; enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that's nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way....
