Kevin Costner Joins JACK RYAN and WITHOUT REMORSE

Kevin Costner has officially joined Kevin Branagh's Jack Ryan film in which he will play Ryan’s mentor who recruits him and shows him the ropes. He joins Chris Pine and Keira Knightley. Costner is also working out a deal with Paramount Pictures to star in their spinoff franchise Without Remorse. Christopher McQuarrie (The Way of the Gun, The Wolverine) is currently rewriting the script and will direct the movie. The studio is also trying to get Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises) to star in it as well, which would be awesome to see as well!

The new Jack Ryan story centers on ex-Marine and Moscow-based financial analyst Jack Ryan (Pine), who uncovers a plot by his employer to finance a terrorist attack designed to collapse the U.S. economy. Ryan must race against time to save America and his wife.

According to Deadline, the deal being made with the studio "envisions Costner potentially headlining his own film. He will play William Harper, a true blue American idealist who recruits and mentors both Ryan and John Kelly, the latter of whom becomes the CIA operative Clark by the end of Without Remorse."

I've got a feeling Costner is going to make a big feature film come back. He was incredible in History Channel's Hatfields & McCoys, which is what basically re-launched his career. His next big movie will be Man of Steel in which he plays Jonathan Kent. This is such a great oppotunity for Costner, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of him back up on the big screen.

What are your thought's on Costner making a comeback?

Here's a description of the Tom Clancy novel Without Remorse:

His code name is Mr. Clark. And his work for the CIA is brilliant, cold-blooded and efficient ... But who is he really? In a harrowing tour de force, Tom Clancy shows how an ordinary man named John Kelly crossed the lines of justice and morality --- to become the CIA legend, Mr. Clark.

It is an unforgettable journey into the heart of darkness. Without mercy. Without guilt. Without remorse.
