Dibbuk - A Malevolent wandering spirit that enters and possesses the body of a living person until exorcised.
Here's an interesting and creepy new featurette for Sam Raimi's The Possession that gives us an explanation of what a dibbuk is, which is what the movie is based on. It's a true story about a haunted antique wooden box called a dibbuk box. The featurette includes footage from the film, some supposed real footage of demonic exorcisms, and interviews with people who are experts in this kind of thing.
Here's the Synopsis for the film:
Clyde (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Kyra Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.
The movie was directed by Ole Bornedal (Nightwatch), and it hits theaters on August 31th, 2012. Check out the featurette below and let us know if you believe in these kinds of things or not.
