J.J. Abrams to Produce Lance Armstrong Biopic

As you may already know, world famous cyclist Lance Armstrong admitted to Oprah that that he did in fact dope up to win the races he participated in. Now it looks like were going to get a film based on the rise and fall of the disgraced legend.

Paramount Pictures is once again teaming up with J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot production company to make a film based on the events that have transpired in Armstrong's life. The movie will be based on a book that has yet to be written by Juliet Macur, called Cycle Of Lies: The Fall Of Lance Armstrong

According to Deadline, Macur is a sports reporter for The New York Times who covered Armstrong's career for over a decade, through the cyclist’s recovery from cancer to his capture of seven Tour de France titles. She has also covered the doping allegations that Armstrong vehemently denied before finally falling on his sword in the interview with Oprah.

Sony was actually developing a film at one point with Jake Gyllenhaal attached to star. It would have told the inspiring heroic tale of an athlete who overcame adversity. They ended up dropping the project when questions started to arise about Armstong's doping. Now a movie will tell the story of a cheater.

It's sad to see someone like Armstrong who has gone through so much in his life, who was supposed to be this inspiring figure of hope end up in this position. But, he's the one that put himself in it, and there are consequences to the choices he made. I'm sure it will end up being a great movie, that people will want to see.
