More Details on THE RAID Sequel and Cast Confirmed

If you've already seen The Raid: Redemption, then you know it's one of the greatest action films of all time. It was on my list of favorite films of 2012, and I can't wait for the sequel to get made! Director Gareth Evans is preparing to shoot the highly anticipated sequel and recently took to Twitter to say that they'll starts shooting on January 19th, and gives us a little more info on the film's timeline.

The movie will be called Berandal and Evans reveals that the movie will take place only two hours after the first movie ends. That's awesome! It also means that the characters who survived aren't going to get much of a break to rest up. Evans previously revealed that the story will be told on a much larger scale, and that it moves from the apartment complex and into the city streets. Here's what he had to say in an interview with us earlier in the year...

The idea is to take it out of that building. We've already done something self contained, we want to do something now whereby the boss of that building and and the building itself everything that was terrifying and scary about that in the first film is considered small fry when it comes to the the second film. So, we go to a much bigger underworld organization, and it should be great.

I have no doubt that the sequel is going to be even more amazingly badass than the first film! Twitch also has a casting update confirming that Iko Uwais will be back to reprise his role, and that he'll be joined by Julie Estelle (Macabre) who will play a character named Hammer Girl, Alex Abbad (Merantau), Marsha Timothy (The Forbidden Door), Mathias Muchus, and Tio Pakusadewo. Internationally renowned silat practitioner Cecep Arif Rahman has also signed on for a major role. Below you'll find a video of what Rahman is capable of...
