Jason Statham to Star in Melissa McCarthy's Spy Comedy

It's been awhile since we've seen Jason Statham do a real comedy film. He actually started his career in comedy with films such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Now he's looking to jump back into it with Melissa McCarthy's new spy comedy, Susan Cooper.

According to Deadline, Statham has met with director Paul Feig to talk about playing a spy alongside McCarthy, who is an unlikely secret agent.

Statham will next be seen in Homefront with James Franco. He just wrapped The Expendables 3 and is starting work on Fast and Furious 7. I hope that Susan Cooper will be a good project for him. It will be fun seeing him do some comedy again. I seriously doubt that it will be as good as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch, though.

This is the third project that McCarthy and Feig have worked on together. Prior to this, they did Bridesmaids and The Heat.
