MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE - Good News, Bad News

The big screen adaptation of Masters of the Universe is taking a bad step forward and a good step back. Paramount Pictures has hired The Lone Ranger co-writer Terry Rossio to write the script for the movie. The Lone Ranger had a pretty weak script, so that doesn't spark any kind of confidence for me whatsoever. The good news is that G.I. Joe: Retaliation director John M. Chu is no longer attached to the project as a director. I don't think he's a very good director even though he is a fan of the series.

According to THR the new film will be set on Eternia, just like the mythology of the toys and classic 1980s cartoon series. I'm sure you all remember the 1987 Dolph Lundgren film. Well, this new movie has got to be better than that! Don't get me wrong, I love the original film for nostalgic purposes, but it really is a terrible movie. I just hope they are able to bring on a solid director now that the slot is open! Who do you think it should be?! Ridley Scott?! I'm just throwing that out there!
