Kingsley, Caine, and Sturgess Join Brad Anderson's ELIZA GRAVES

Session 9 director Brad Anderson is preparing to direct his next film called Eliza Graves, which is based on the Edgar Allen Poe short story, The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor. The turn of the century story is a thriller about a "young doctor who comes to apprentice at a remote mental institution. He meets a beautiful patient, with whom he falls in love under circumstances which may be much more complicated than they seem."

Anderson has been able to bring together a stellar cast for the movie which includes Kate Beckinsale, Michael Caine, Ben Kingsley, and Jim Sturgess. This might be the most impressive cast that Anderson has worked with so far. For the most part, I'm a big fan of Anderson's films. Although, I didn't really care for his last one The Call. Not sure what happened there but I won't hold it against him.

As far as the original story goes, it's a dark comedy about "a wandering traveller who, out of curiosity, investigates an insane asylum that is reputed to employ a highly liberal method of treatment that allows patients to wander freely about the grounds, and encourages the doctors to freely indulge and even encourage their delusions. Upon arriving at the asylum, however, the traveler discovers the patients locked away in cells and is told that an incident occurred a few weeks prior that forced the suspension of the soothing system."

Eliza Graves is scheduled to start shooting on June 24th, and this should turn out to be an excellent movie!
