Colin Firth Cast as Spy in Matthew Vaughn’s THE SECRET SERVICE

Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn is prepping up to shoot his next film, The Secret Service, which is an adaptation of the comic book that he and Mark Millar created. Latino Review reports that Vaughn and co-writer Jane Goldman have completed the script and that they have cast Oscar winner Colin Firth in the lead role of super spy, Uncle Jack.

The Secret Service has been described as Vaughn and Millar's version of Marvel's  S.H.I.E.L.D. The story follows a James Bond-type super spy named Uncle Jack who works for MI6. He ends up taking his slacker nephew Gary under his wing, and mentors him in tradecraft in the hopes that Gary can change and become an MI6 agent.

It was also previously reported that Mark Hamill had joined the cast of the film as well. Firth actually confirmed the news himself in a previous interview with rogersmovienation.com teasing that it's "too early to talk about now, but it’ll be unlike anything I’ve done."

Firth is an amazing actor, and I think it's so cool that he's taking on a role like this! I can't wait to see him own it. The film is slated to open in theaters nationwide, November 14th, 2014!

What do you think about Firth taking on the spy role in this action thriller?
