Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender to Star in MACBETH

Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender have both joined a new big screen adaptation of William Shakespeare's Macbeth. Portman is set to play Lady Macbeth, and Fassbender is set the play the title role.

The new film is being directed by director Justin Kurzel (Snowtown). The movie will retain the play's 11th century setting and will also use the original dialogue. The story is about a ruthlessly ambitious Scottish lord who takes the throne with the help of his scheming wife and three witches. The report says that the script "is understood to be a visceral approach to the story including significant battle scenes."

Fassbender and Portman are going to make a fantastic team in this adaptation. They played an onscreen couple in Terrence Malick's untitled project that shot last year. They were also supposed to work together on Jane Got a Gun, which the actress is currently shooting, but Fassbender left the project before it started production. Portman will next be seen as Jane Foster in Thor: The Dark World.
