DC Comics' FABLES getting Feature Film Adaptation

Movie DC Comics by Joey Paur

DC Comics and Vertigo’s comic book series Fables is finally coming to the big screen! I was wondering when they would get around to adapting this thing. Harry Potter producer David Hayman is working on developing with the film, and Nikolaj Arcel has been hired to direct it. I'm not familiar with any of the director's work, but he made a Danish film called A Royal Affair

Fables is an incredibly cool comic that was created by Bill Willingham in 2002. The story centers on several fairytale characters such as Snow White, Cinderella, the Big Bad Wolf, Little Boy Blue and others who are kicked out of their world and now live in a secret pocket of New York City. Jeremy Slater is set to write the script for the film. Slater hasn't done much, but he's also currently working on the Fantastic Four reboot.

This is a great comic that is sure to make for a fantastic film franchise, especially since the fantasy genre is huge right now. Back in 2004, Warner Bros. tried to develop  the comic into a movie with the Jim Henson Company, but obviously it never happened. Then back in 2008 ABC was going to turn it into a series, but ended up developing Once Upon a Time instead.

I love the comic, and I hope this movie lives up to the epic potential that it has. Here's a description of the comic:

When a savage creature known only as the Adversary conquered the fabled lands of legends and fairy tales, all of the infamous inhabitants of folklore were forced into exile. Disguised among the "mundys," their name for normal citizens of modern-day New York, these magical characters created their own secret society that they call Fabletown. From their exclusive luxury apartment buildings on Manhattan's Upper West Side, these creatures of legend must fight for their survival in the new world.
