Paul Giamatti Discusses The Rhino in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2
We've seen several images so far of Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich, aka "The Rhino," in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Some of those photos came from the set of the film and showed him in some kind of mech-looking suit, which will be his Rhino gear. This is going to be a much different-looking Rhino than what we know in the comics, which is fine. I'm sure this will look a lot more badass. In a recent interview with The Toronto Sun, the actor talks about his character, saying,
"In the comic books of old, he had this suit on that made him look like a rhinoceros, and it made him super strong. If there was a bank vault he would just run right through it. Butt through it with his head. And he was not very smart."
Giamatti goes on to talk about his updated suit design a little bit.
"And I have a particular kind of suit, but I don't think I'm supposed to talk about it. He's a Russian mobster. Russians are always good villains. I have an ability to just destroy things. My accent is pretty hammy. I loved doing it. it seemed to me like an opportunity to be as over-the-top hammy as possible. It was really fun."
He went to to say that he plays "one of several bad guys in the movie." We already know that Electro and Black Cat will be in the film, but there's also been a lot of talk about the Sinister Six.
The film also stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Sally Field, Chris Cooper, B.J. Novak, and Sarah Gadon. It's set to be released on May 2nd, 2014.
