ALIEN: COVENANT BTS Video Shows Alien Hand; Danny McBride Offers Details on His Character

Danny McBride's role in Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant has been shrouded in mystery since he was cast in the film. He definitely made an interesting and unexpected addition to the cast, and during an interview with Rolling Stone, the actor revealed some details on his character saying:

"I’m the pilot of the spaceship Covenant, which is a colonization ship, searching for a planet where we might start life anew. I run the ship."

Yeah, that makes sense. I could see him playing a wiseass pilot type, and it's safe to assume that he will provide some comic relief. McBride also said that most of the stuff being created for the film is practical effects, which is awesome! He also teased that he'll be getting into some intense situation with an alien running after him:

"[M]ost of the stuff is practical effects. When you're running from an alien it's really a dude in an alien suit coming after you! The sets are incredible and you're in them: We go through some inclement weather at one point on the spaceship and this whole gigantic set is on a gimbal, shaking up and down. You don't have to use your imagination."

The film is currently in production, and the studio released a cool behind-the-scene video showing off one of the practical effects being created for the movie. It's a sculpt of a menacing Xenomorph hand.

Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created in Alien with Alien: Covenant, the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus -- and connects directly to Scott's 1979 seminal work of science fiction. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world -- whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The cast also includes Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Demián Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby. Alien: Covenant opens in theaters on August the 4th, 2017.
