Another NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET Remake in Development
Remember that time in 2010 when New Line Cinema remade A Nightmare on Elm Street with Jackie Earle Haley and Rooney Mara? That movie was completely awful, but it's not going to stop the studio from remaking the classic horror film again! The Tracking Board reports that “the house that Freddy built” is developing a fresh new take on the film.
There's no information on the story of the movie, but you can expect Freddy Krueger to put on his glove of death and terrorize another group of teenagers in their dreams. I don't think the plot is going to get much more complex than that.
The script is being written by David Leslie Johnson, who is behind projects such as Orphan, The Walking Dead, and James Wan's upcoming The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist.
On a positive note, there is no mention of Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form’s Platinum Dunes being involved in this production. They produced the 2010 version of the film, along with the remakes for Friday the 13th and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I don't know who in the hell thought it was a good idea to bring these guys in to produce the remakes of these horror films, but as you all know, they ended up being terrible.
I'm a huge fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, and it pisses me off that New Line is really going to attempt to remake it again. They must be looking for a quick, cheap, and easy way to make money.
Wes Craven created the franchise, which debuted in 1984 with Robert Englund in the role of Freddy Krueger. Over the years, it spawned nine films including Freddy Vs. Jason. If I did have to choose one film in the franchise for them to remake, it would have to be A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.
